Journey to the east

 

Finally. A really busy week over and done with and I can fly out to Japan tonight to catch up with Maki and the boys for the end of their holiday. For the last four years we have flown with Korean Air every time we go to Japan as we can arrive at a more local airport to our final destination than Kansai or Narita. One of these day's I'll have to have an extended stop-over at Seoul to do some sight seeing but typically its just an hour wait for the connecting flight so just enough time to pick up some Kimchi to go with tomorrow's dinner. The flight itself is long but the service with Korean Air is pretty good and the main in-flight meal of Bibimbap fantastic. As a special treat this time I have booked into the Servisair lounge at Terminal 3 for the flight out. Just need to make sure I can drink more than £18 worth of the free booze while I'm there to make it worthwhile. Now that sounds like an easy challenge :)

Canada contd.

Just to finish off my list of 'things we did in Canada', we also...

missed the annual 'Ribfest' as we arrived after it closed went to Jeff Heely's blues bar to catch his regular thursday night set saw a really surreal street performance involving several giant red giraffes, a scary looking french clown and a scantily dressed woman in a furcoat got onto the private guest list for 'Fluid Lounge' (nice club but rap and house are not really my scene) took an evening dinner/dance cruise around Lake Ontario

and met even more family as another cousin flew up from Florida for the last few days of our stay.

All in all a great holiday but it's always nice to get home even if the weather is bad, the boiler has broken down, the garden has withered away and I'm faced with another big organisation change at work (will soon have my sixth manager in 3 years).

Canada

As I haven't been blogging day by day I have ended up doing too much to write about in one go. So far we have (amongst other things)...

Taken an elevator to the top of the CN tower
Shopped at the Eaton Centre
Met lots of family
Taken a midnight Soca party boat cruise
Visited some Iroquois indians
Spent a day paintballing
Met lots of family
Wandered around lots of outlet malls
had lunch at a Dim Sum restaurant
Travelled on the Toronto subway
Met lots of family
Been to Niagara falls
Looked around a butterfly conservatory

And we also met lots of family. Just four days left of our trip now so we will have to try and pack in as much as we can. The weather has been hot, the average temperature being in the low 30's but with the humidity being equivalent to well over 35C.

I have uploaded a whole lot of photos to flickr over the last two days from various trips to Japan. There are still a few more CD's for me to go through and load up and even more tagging and grouping of the photos for me to do once they are up but there's plenty there to look through if the mood takes you. All of the photos are set with public access so no account is required to view them.

Just uploaded several photos from my most recent trip to Japan onto my flickr account... still need to give them tags, titles and descriptions etc. but now at least you can see the random photos being displayed on the lefthand sidebar.

Hey man, you wanna get high?

Amongst other places I've just come back from the Highest village in Britain. I guess everyone was still sleeping off the night before as there wasn't a toker in sight, just a few bemused looking cows who might have been stoned.. but how would you tell?

Not only did this place have an amusing claim to fame, it also has a great name too. During all the in car conversations trying to navigate our way there, every mention of the word "Flash" triggered choruses of "Ahh Ahh!" in my mind.
